Samsung releases a $15,000 curved OLED TV in U.S.

The high-end television retailer from New York–Value Electronics now accepts reservations of the Samsung’s 55-inch curved OLED television. The cost of $15,000 includes calibration and delivery. Samsung may be the first one to launch a curved OLED television in the United States. In Korea, LG’s own curved OLED TV as well as the Samsung’s $15,000 curved OLED TV were priced about $13,000.

How can this new product cost so much money? And what is the advantage of the curved OLED TV? Well, for the new high-end TV, the curved surface allows the whole image to be equidistant from the people, thus the image looks clearer and less deformed. But the disadvantage is also obvious. The best distance of viewing is around 6 feet to 10 feet. So it allows no more than four people to watch the TV.

The OLED display technology is known for its colors, but before the technology to make a large panel lays a threshold. So it’s exciting to see the TV with the large panel finally comes to the market. To contrast the OLED and the 4K Ultra HD TV, obviously the OLED has a better image quality, but the price stops the spread.

It is said that Apple is developing low-cost plastic housing iPhone, including a variety of colors

Recently it is said that Apple will launch its low-cost iPhone later this year. The cheap iPhone’s may have a plastic shell, and the price will be lower than the other versions. The suspected leaked pictures show that the plastic case may have variety of colors.

Once the new version of Apple’s high-end iPhone 5S launches later this year, then how is the cheap plastic casing iPhone positioned itself in the Apple’s iPhone series?

From the traditional point of view, Apple always had the inventory of the old-fashioned iPhones, and they would be sold at a lower price. Every year a large amount of iPhone is sold by this means. However, now the Apple is trying to replace its products’ connector with the new tiny Lightning connector, and the connector can charge the device as well as connecting your Apple devices with each other. The goal of introducing the Lightning connector is to eliminate the initial 30-pin connector. Apple has achieved the goal in the iPad tablet product. However, if Apple insists on providing 3G version of the iPhone to the market, then iPhone 4S will be the only iPhone with the old connector after the iPhone 5S is released. And the iPhone 4S will be the only one that is not configured with a 4-inch screen and LTE network.

So it’s meaningful to launch a cheap iPhone that supports Lightning connector with a 4-inch screen to replace its iPhone 4S.

Surface RT repeats the Zune’s mistakes: Microsoft need to save himself

A failed market promotion

The initial Surface RT is actually a Surface Tablet with Windows RT system. It’s hard for Microsoft to explain what the product is, and it’s confusing in the fusion process of combining touch devices with the desktop mode, for the product can only run Microsoft’s Office. Like before, because it didn’t completely get rid of the Windows OS, Microsoft failed again.

Facing these challenges, the Surface RT’s marketing methods is also incomprehensible. Before the release, Microsoft puts on many ads in more than a dozen cities in the United States, but refused to disclose the price and purchasing channels. But the TV ads are something confusing. “The first round of advertising does have some digressions.” Brian Hall, the Surface general manager admits, “Surface makes people excited, they think these ads are very good. But at the same time, many people including the Surface fans expect the ads can introduce some features. ”

Software disadvantages

Subjectivity aside, the battery life of Surface RT is good enough, and the keyboard is convenient for the user to type text. Assessments on the tablet are appreciated for Surface RT’s hardwares, but the software was something not good enough. The Surface RT adopts the Windows RT systems, which is optimized for the ARM chipset, the result is that the software is very lacking. Music, e-mail and other key applications have not reached expectations.

Although Microsoft keeps updating every month, but the application software is too little and incompatible with the hardware, which hinders the development of the Surface RT.

SanDisk announces two portable, flash-based multimedia Wi-Fi drives

SanDisk announced two portable, flash-based multimedia Wi-Fi drives on Monday, and one is the

Connect Wireless Media Drive
, the other is the
Connect Wireless Flash Drive
. Both the drives have battery-power. They can used as a portable storage and serve as mobile multimedia hotspots, so you can share data and multimedia wirelessly via 802.11 b/g/n.

The smaller Connect Wireless Flash uses a USB port as its connection port. It looks like a USB mass storage device. The price is $50 for 16GB and $60 for 32GB. But it is misleading of the storage function—it is not the USB flash drives but a form of a micro SD card hidden in a slot on the side of the device. It doesn’t support a 64GB micro SD card however.

The Wireless Media Drive is 0.5-inch thick, approximately 2.5×2.5 inch of the size. It sells at $80 with 32GB or $100 with 64GB. It has a micro USB port and SDHC/XC slot and is more powerful. It can deliver five 720p video streams simultaneously and 8 hours of battery life, when the Connect Wireless Flash can deliver three 720p streams and 4 hours of battery life. It’s a pity that both drives support USB 2.0, not 3.0.

The new Moto X comes to us in the end. Motorola plans to launch its most expected Android phone on August 1. There will be a small, private event for the new product in New York by Motorola.

According to earlier revealed details, the Moto X will be equipped with Android 4.2.2 operating system, a 4.7 inch screen of 720×1184 resolution. It has 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM with a 1.7MHz dual-core processor or a lower-end quad-core S4 processor from Qualcomm. This phone is not provided with an SD card slot. It will be customizable. It is not clear about the price as well as the supporting network. I think there will be a number of new features it’s keeping under its hat until August 1st.

Motorola’s Dennis Woodside said the Moto X will have new sensors never used before on a smart phone. Moto X may have the Google Now-type within it. The app can provide you with apps and services you need via knowing your location and the thing you’re doing.

We hope that the Moto X will turn out to be a big surprise, not a disappointment.
