Samsung developed fastest mobile memory for phones and tablets

Samsung is said to have developed the world’s fastest mobile memory, which is called an embedded MultiMedia Card (eMMC). The capacity comes with 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB.

The new eMMC Pro memory has a speed of 400MB/s, it’s about three times faster than the current used eMMC memory, thus can obviously decrease the applications’ load time, according to Samsung. The new eMMC Pro memory supports the eMMC version 5.0 standard. The faster speed allows multi-tasking running, network resources downloading, blu-ray video playback. All the high speed needed, the eMMC chips can afford.

Based on tests, the chips of 32GB and 64GB have a random read speed up to 7000 IOPS (inputs/outputs per second), write speed is of 7,000 IOPS, which are 2~3 times faster than the old products. And the chipsets’ sequential read speed is of 250MB/s, 90MB/s for the sequential write speed.

The chips have a size of 11.5mm by 13mm. “With mass production in time of the ultra-speed eMMC Pro line-up offering a more than 10X performance increase, Samsung will accelerate the spread of high-end mobile devices, as the market for mobiles with larger screens and more multimedia functionality expands even further,” Samsung stated in a statement.
