Snowden’s asylum application accepted, leave airport to enter Russia

Edward Snowden was accepted to leave Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport and enter Russia, according to the news.

The Russian Federal Migration Service has issued to Snowden the proof of accepting his application for asylum. With the proof, Snowden will be unrestricted for movement in Russia. Accepting the application is just the first step. If Snowden’s application is approved, then he can stay in Russia for one year. When the time is up, one can apply for another year.

Anatoly Kucherena, who is Snowden’s lawyer, said that Snowden intended to settle in Russia, look for work and live there. He wishes that the application be approved. Kucherena also said Snowden had to spend some time to adjust to life in Russia.

The U.S. has not yet responded. But on the July 23, White House spokesman Carney said the United States believes that: “There are many precedents that can be used to extradite Snowden.”
