Toshiba releases the Satellite E series ultra-thin notebooks

Toshiba from Japan released its Satellite E series ultra-thin notebooks on July 29.

The series include the E45T of 14-inch and the E55t/E55Dt of 15.6-inch, they are both emphasized on the touch screens as the selling point, and will be equipped with the 4th generation processors—Intel’s Haswell processors or AMD’s A6-series APUs.

The new Satellite E series’ market positioning will be set apart from the company’s luxury Kirabook series, said Young Bae, Toshiba’s group product marketing manager. The less-expensive series will be made with aluminum while the Kirabook is made of magnesium. “But they will have many of the same high-end features.” he said.

The Satellite E series’ price tag will range from $600 to $900. They will be made of brushed-aluminum, and will have backlit keyboards, two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, an SD card slot, and 500GB or 750GB HDD and an optional 32GB SSD. The 15.6-inch model will have an extra numeric keypad. The new series will also support the 802.11ac wireless network. Most of the notebooks will only have an integrated graphics, but a discrete graphics processor–Nvidia GeForce 740M will be available for you. For the integrated graphics, as my opinion, the AMD’s APU will perform better in the 3D rendering. The resolution is of 1366 by 768 pixels.
