Microsoft releases Office Mobile for Android mobiles

On Wednesday Microsoft announced Office Mobile for Android platform, but only for phones, tablets not included.

However, the Office Mobile for Android is available from the Google Play Store, and it’s free to use if you have already bought the Office 365, or you’ll just have a free 30-day trial. The software needs Android 4.0 or higher version. A product manager of the Office apps for Microsoft said that the app was intended to provide added value for Office 365. And the Office 365 can be subdivided into Office 365 Home Premium, Small Business Premium, Midsize Business, Enterprise E3 and E4, Education A3 and A4, ProPlus and Office 365 University.

The Android version provides mobile versions of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; OneNote is added to Windows Phone as well. One can create new Excel or Word documents (not include a PowerPoint document), edit save and load as he or her does on the computer. With the Office Mobile, you can do some basic things: for a Word document you can edit text; Excel allows you to create charts and calculate.

The software knows what documents you’ve recently accessed on your PC, and those are the first options presented when you choose to open a saved file.

A feature that Microsoft calls Rapid Resume also works like Amazon’s Kindle, ‘fast-forwarding” you to the portion of the document last viewed on your PC.

An “outline view” in Excel and Word allow you to quickly navigate through the document, and both apps allow annotations as well.
